Dr. Olaf Förster is the founder and chairman of "Medical Assistance in Africa" (MDH). He has been working in Kenya since 1996. After completing his PhD on "Pharmacology in the Traditional Medicine of Eastern Africa", he did his internship at the Department of Internal Medicine, Infectious and Tropical Diseases at the University Hospital of Rostock, Germany. Since 2002 he has been working at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, academic teaching hospital of the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Besides his clinical commitment, Dr. Förster is researching peripartum cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscle that occurs almost exclusively in developing countries and affects women around the time of delivery. During his annual leave he works for MDH in our "Community Health Worker Project" and in our "Clinic in Kokotoni".  
Agnes Guyo lives in the Kenyan village of Kokotoni, where MDH has established a clinic. She volunteered for MDH as an interpreter since 1996 even before the organisation was officially founded. She was trained as a nurse in 2001 and is since then employed by "Medical Assistance in Africa", providing daily medical assistance to the poor and the suffering in our Clinic. Agnes Guyo also coordinates the assistance to the orphans who are under the care of MDH.  
Pastor Thomas Lübke of the protestant Philippus-Nathanael Community in Berlin is the treasurer and deputy chairman of Medical Assistance in Africa. His duties comprise bookkeeping to provide funds for our projects, and managing donations of urgently needed medicines and equipment from pharmaceutical companies for our projects in Africa. He organises the transport of donations from Germany to Africa and is in charge of PR within Germany.  
Bärbel Wombacher is a pharmacist in Berlin, Germany. She organizes donations and collection of drugs for Medical Assistance in Africa.  
Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Steinhilber is a maxillo-facial surgeon. He participated in humanitarian assistance in Zaire. He is also the honorable chairperson of Marfan Aid Germany.  
Anne Lübke is a kindergarten teacher in Berlin. Currently she is on maternity leave.  
Andreas Semmelmann is a resident manager for a German tourist company. From 1995-1996 and from 1998-2001 he lived and worked in Kenya and Tanzania. He is always ready to help Medical Assistance in Africa in all aspects of the organization and implementation of our tasks.  
Benedetta Sidi lives in the remote village of Ramada, Kenya. She volunteered as an interpreter for MDH even before it was officially founded in 1999. In 2004, MDH trained her as a "community health worker". Her contribution towards the establishment of the MDH "community health worker" system was invaluable.  
Dr. Harry Elsbernd is head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology at Herman-Josef-Hospital in Erkelenz, Germany. During his medical studies he did an internship in the District Hospital of Mutare, Zimbabwe.  
Gerdi Steinhilber is a pharmacist in Berlin.  
Martina Behrens-Krull is the CEO of pep & web GmbH, web design and advertising agency based in Kiel, Germany. She designed the website for Medical Assistance in Africa and updates it free of charge on a regular basis  
After several years of fundraising, Harrison Ziro built a dispensary in the rural area of Ramada, Kenya. He now raises support for the daily running of the dispensary.
